Report Card
Joe Crowley has been an outspoken advocate for Comprehensive Immigration Reform and a vocal opponent of anti-immigrant legislation in Congress. His stands reflect the concerns of his district, perhaps the most diverse in the United States.
The Seventh Congressional District includes parts of the South Bronx; Jackson Heights’ Little India; Elmhurst, where the hospital of the same name has recorded patients speaking 100 different languages; and Woodside, an area with residents from 49 different countries including immigrants from the Indian subcontinent, Korea, Peru, and Mexico among other countries. The district also has many European immigrants, especially those from Ireland.
Crowley has involved himself deeply in immigration reform politics and has worked closely with advocates at the national level as well as with city-based coalitions. Immigrant rights supporters view him as a close friend and ally.
Crowley is a co-sponsor of both the DREAM Act and the Comprehensive Immigration Reform ASAP bill.
He has received the lowest possible rating from anti-immigrant groups.
